Miles To Go Before I Sleep

Category: San Francisco — Mike @ 1:07 am

EDITOR’S NOTE: Still looking for some dog sitting help…

I’ve always wanted to drive cross country – sea to shining sea.  Moving to San Francisco definitely affords me this opportunity.  Over the past few weeks, I’ve been trying to map out the route and I’ve come up with a general idea.

Here are some of the stops I am probably going to make:

Canton, OH: Pro Football Hall of Fame
Cincinnati, OH
Paris, IL
Dyersville, IA: “Field of Dreams” set
Minneapolis, MN: Target Field
Interior and Keystone, SD: Badlands & Mount Rushmore
Jackson Hole, WY
Salt Lake City, UT

The places that don’t have a reason listed are stops to see friends and/or family. I want to hit Target Field because Minneapolis is one of five MLB cities where I haven’t attended a game. The other four are Seattle, Phoenix, and the two Florida ballparks.

I’m going to be doing it alone and taking my time.  I am alotting 10-14 days to make the trip and if I wake up one day and don’t want to drive, I won’t.  I’ve love to pull into some one-horse town and chat up the locals all day.  This is something I definitely could see myself doing.

I’m also open to suggestions.  Let me know if there is anything you think I should hit.  I’m trying to stay on a northern route because I will be traveling in the dead of summer.

Like the Robert Frost poem says, I have many miles to go before I sleep.
